In the cool dawn of a tropic day in Lahore, Pakistan, I first heard the words that would result in this book. My Sikh guide and I were playing back the third tape from a recorder we had left running all night in the citadel of the ruins at Mohenjo Daro. Suddenly and clearly, a voice spoke. The as tounded guide recognized the language as Hindi, though be cause of the accent he was unable to translate the words. They were later translated in Karachi. The transcript read:
“I, Ibn Saud, lived in thy plane of existence in the year 480. In my poor time I was considered a great seer and teacher. Some said I was a Holy Man, others, a Sufi; but I did claim neither of these titles, being instead content to help my fellow man. Now I come again, this time in spirit only, to help the poor bewildered people of the world. Verily, it is my hope that my few poor words will help them understand that the ancient astronomic science can and should be used to ease their lives.â€
Ibn Saud went on to tell of a system of astrology based on astronomy. That system was both simple and exciting, for it held the promise of a technique with which anyone could improve his lot. The information was startling to me because it presented a whole new facet of astrology. T
